Ontario drivers in favour of digital pink slips: IBC poll
Three quarters of Ontarians want option to receive documents electronically
A majority of Ontario drivers are in favour of digital pink slips, according to a poll released Monday by the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC).
The poll, which appears in a recent IBC report entitled “An Innovation Agenda for Ontario’s Insurance Industry,” found that 74% of Ontarians would like the option of receiving their insurance documents electronically.

“The speed of technological change has outstripped the pace of policy and regulatory change,” Kim Donaldson, IBC’s vice-president, Ontario, said in a news release. “Ontario’s property and casualty insurers are looking for the provincial government’s commitment to modernize insurance laws to put customers’ needs first and meet their evolving online financial needs.”
IBC also found that nearly 8 in 10 Ontarians believe insurance information that is available online is just as safe as paper-based communications.
The poll, conducted by market research firm Leger, surveyed 1,210 Ontarians between Jan. 24 and 26, 2018, and is considered accurate within +/-2.8%, 19 times out of 20.
